The view from the mountain Snjerak towards the Kvikkjokk's Delta

Snjerak

Snjerak is a smaller mountain area with three summits located just east of Kvikkjokk. One of the summits is called Tourist Summit and is 805 meters above sea level. From there visitors have a fine view of the Pårte Massif in Sarek, the delta around Kvikkjokk and the Tarrekaise Massif.

The northern summit, where there is a communications mast has a view in the same direction and is probably a bit better. There is no path to this summit. The third summit is the highest, 884 meters above sea level also has a good scenic view towards the Pårte Massif and gives a more comprehensive view of the surroundings. At the summit of Snjerak there is a little cabin where one can take a break.

The path is rather stony in places and occasionally a bit wet higher up when the creek which runs on the path has a lot of water. There are two windbreak structures along the way up. The hike to the Tourist Summit demands a climb of 500 meters in altitude difference from Kvikkjokk. The stretch is 8 km long and takes about three hours to hike.

From the cabin at the summit of Snjerak there is a trail that goes to the neighboring village of Årrenjarka. It crosses a pretty marsh area with patches of mountain birch trees, and then crosses over the Kassavare Mountain along the fertile mountainside down to Årrenjarka. From Kvikkjokk it is a hike of 17 km. The trail is marked and has boardwalk paths when needed.
