The water fall Bride’s Veil near Kvikkjokk

Brudslöjan

Brudslöjan, the Bride’s Veil, is a waterfall created by the Kådtjåjåkkå stream. The waterfall is located 9 km southeast of Kvikkjokk at a location called Köpenhamn. It is easiest to get there by car or by bus. It is also possible to arrange transportation there by boat, a beautiful longer tour on Lake Saggat.

The Bride’s Veil near Kvikkjokk The waterfall plunges off a cliff where you can clearly see the easterly part of the bedrock of the mountain range down to Lake Saggat. This comparatively narrow bedrock, Cambro-Silurian, runs along the whole mountain range, from north to south.

The path goes 500 meters up through old growth forest to the waterfall. With a bit more effort one can hike another 500 meters up through the boulders to the crest where the waterfall starts. Areas of aspen, Daphne and large sallow are scattered throughout the coniferous forest and the hiker has a view towards the lake and Pärlälven’s Nature Reserve as well as the Sjellapuolta Massif on the other side of the lake.
